About me
Hej! I'm so glad you found me on this little corner of the internet. My name is Tia Wray, and I'm an American mamma finding my rhythm here in the magical quiet (sometimes) of Västerås, Sweden.
The Spark in the Swedish Dark
My story with the hook and the yarn began when my mom taught me how to crochet as a little girl, but it wasn't until years later that the long dark, and wonderfully cozy Swedish winters called me back to the craft. It started with hats and mittens for my kids, but the motion of the hook and the feel of the yarn in my hands inspired me to turn the craft into something more creative.
Living in the Seasons
The evolution os my style is completely tied to this place. Living in Sweden, I learned to lean into the seasons, celebrating the vast differences between light and darkness throughout the year. My work became a meditation on this rhythm, connecting with the earth and the seemingly enchanted forest right outside my door. I use the intention soft, slow living in my craft and with every piece I complete. ​Living in gentle harmony with the rhythms of the seasons is the key to the way I create. Whether I'm outside foraging for self-heal and pineapple weed or inside stitching together leaves and flowers of yarn, my intention is to nurture this sense of whimsical, seasonal softness.
Philosophy of Softness
I don't enjoy metals or other hard materials; yarn softness is where I feel at home. Just this last year, my 3 boys gifted me a fleece blanket because "mamma likes soft things," they said. I have spent my energy cultivating comfort in my life, and Stitched with Softness is my way of bringing that feeling to you. Every stitch is an extension of my desire to add a little joy, a little magic, and a whole lot of softness to your life.
